Project Management.

As one of the largest employers not just on the reservation, but in the North Country region, the Casino takes its responsibility as a regional economic driver seriously. This people-centered enterprise intends to sustain growth for decades to come through continuous upgrades and improvement. With that in mind, they were looking for ways to ensure that these constant changes and developing projects were not disruptions, but were part of the fabric of the work environment. They chose project management training for their managers and leaders.
Kate Chepeleff, business advisor, designed a customized training program on the fundamentals of project management covering a broad range of topics including project planning charters, resource allocation, stakeholder analysis, SIPOC maps, work breakdown, change management, meeting facilitation, time management, risk analysis, failure mode analysis and more. Workshops were a mix of lecture, discussion, and hands-on activities to ensure active engagement, and participants worked on real projects within their own department as part of the program. Those projects ran a gamut of smaller events to large capital installments. “We learned to use one integrated system to work with each other on these projects. We now have confidence, knowledge and a system to make sure our projects are successful,” says Shelia King, Director of Human Resources.
“This was a great group to work with,” said Chepeleff. The variety of projects made it interesting, but seeing the passion and energy these teams put into their work was truly inspiring.”
